AMSOIL Diesel Cetane Boost (ACB)

The previous International Tech Tips newsletter focused on diesel engine injector and combustion chamber deposits and the AMSOIL products formulated to remove them. Today’s Tech Tip will highlight a different diesel fuel additive – AMSOIL Diesel Cetane Boost (ACB).
The cetane number is a measure of a fuel's ignition delay, which is the time between the start of injection and the first identifiable pressure increase during combustion. The higher the cetane number the earlier the fuel will start to ignite, which results in a shorter ignition delay period. The characteristic diesel "knock" occurs when the first portion of fuel that has been injected into the cylinder suddenly ignites after an initial delay. Once ignition occurs, the remaining fuel burns smoothly as it leaves the injector nozzle. Minimizing this delay results in less unburned fuel in the cylinder at the beginning and less intense knock. This usually causes an engine to run more smoothly and quietly.
AMSOIL Diesel Cetane Boost is an ashless, alcohol-free fuel additive used to improve the quality and combustion efficiency of diesel fuel. This chemistry contains 2-ethylhexyl nitrate, which improves the cetane number of diesel fuel by up to 7 points. What benefits does Diesel Cetane Boost provide?

Maximizes horsepower
Increases fuel economy
Smooths engine operation
Improves starting, reducing stress on the battery and starter
Reduces smoke and emissions
While appropriate for heavy-duty and off-road diesel, AMSOIL Cetane Boost is also ideal for passenger cars, marine diesels and all other diesel engine applications. It is fully compatible with AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean (ADF), Diesel Injector Clean + Cold Flow (DFC) and Diesel Cold Flow (ACF). Diesel Cetane Boost is a maintenance product designed to be used continuously at each refueling. For maximum performance, add one oz. (30ml) of Diesel Cetane Boost to every five gallons (20 liters) of diesel fuel. It is available in 16-oz. bottles, 64-oz. bottles, 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums.
